our advice - when planning your wedding

choosing a reception venue

Everyone wants a beautiful venue and receptions can be held at a seemingly infinite number of glorious locations which all look wonderful on a sunny day.

If photography is a high priority for you then choosing a venue which has rooms and covered areas away from your guests can be insurance against the possibility of inclement weather!

Selecting a venue which does not place too many restrictions on you regarding timings can be a good way to minimise unnecessary stress on the day as there are always last minute changes which occur during even the most highly planned weddings!

timings

No matter how well you plan your day, time will run away with itself at some point.

From our perspective this often happens immediately after the wedding service when all the guests emerge from the ceremony desperate to congratulate the bride and groom!

If you hope to have some of your personal shots taken between the ceremony and the start of the reception then you should ensure that this period can be a little flexible if possible!

planning location shots

Escaping from the excitement of the reception, if only for a short time, can be a fun and relaxing time for a bride and groom.

Just to get away and calm down, either on your own or with your bridal party, can be a perfect time to relax - with your photographers on hand to capture it all of course!

We really enjoy these short escapades to a beach or park where we are able to shoot some creative, fun and romantic moments.

It can be a very relaxing time for everyone involved as long as the bride and groom do not try to fit too many locations into the available time. We have had plenty of experience planning location shoots so will be able to advise you how best to plan any excursions depending upon location numbers and the distances involved.

We will ensure that you do not plan for too many locations to keep your day stress-free!

shoes

No, we would not presume to recommend which shoes you should wear, just that you should plan to have some extra footwear available so that you can keep your prized shoes clean!

For summer weddings we suggest having some thongs available (flip-flops for those of you reading this in the UK) if you plan to visit the beach or make use of the reception gardens.

In autumn or winter it would be a good idea to have some warmer shoes or even a pair of funky wellies, gumboots or Ugg Boots to hand. Any of these make for some great shots!

relax and enjoy

Your big day will speed by more quickly than you can imagine, plan to enjoy every minute!

From the moment you arise ensure that you have people around you who can take care of you and keep your day stress-free.

If you are prepared to accept the possibility of a last-minute hiccup then you will remain chilled, even if the car is late, the flowers are the wrong shade or rain threatens.

Just enjoy every moment, delegate as much as you can to your bridal party. Concentrate upon loving every part of the day and it will show in your photographs!
